Folk singer and songwriter Margot Merah performs traditional folk songs from Ireland, Scotland and America alongside her own work. She has toured the world for over 20 years, including with her folk duo The Lasses.
Margot is known for her warm, captivating voice and her love of storytelling. Her songs explore the small, simple details of life as well as the bigger picture – hopeful, melancholic, comforting and often with a touch of humour.
Margot is drawn to the story behind every song. Voice, guitar, ukulele and bodhrán (Irish drum) become tools for bringing those stories to life and revealing a song’s beauty and emotion. Her repertoire moves effortlessly between centuries-old songs from Ireland and Scotland, her own compositions, and more contemporary work by folk artists such as Richard Thompson, Karine Polwart and Bob Dylan.
